Carl Little Joins Men’s Basketball Staff Ahead of 2025-26 Season

Little returns to Columbus to assist Coach Moore and staff for 2025-26 season.

iCOLUMBUS – Columbus State men's basketball head coach Robert Moore is excited to welcome back Carl Little to Columbus as an assistant basketball coach.

A retired U.S. Air Force and Army officer, Little brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Cougars' program. He has previously served as an assistant for the Cougars from 2013-17 and has made numerous stops along the way, leading him to a return to CSU.

"I am excited to have Carl back with us," Moore stated. "He brings a ton of experience at the collegiate level, specifically Division I and II. His tremendous work ethic and knowledge of the game will help our program strive for excellence on and off the court."

Little's coaching experience spans several levels of basketball, including the collegiate and international ranks. Most recently, he has served in a brief stint as the Interim Head Basketball Coach at Austin Peay State University, where he has also held roles as an Assistant Coach and Director of Basketball Operations.

His previous stops include North Carolina Central University, where he helped lead the team to an MEAC title as the Director of Player Development. In addition, Little has made a stop as a coaching apprentice at Duke University while leading teams for Team USA and All-Army as the head coach.

As the head coach of All-Army Men's Basketball, Little led the team to back-to-back Armed Forces Tournament Championships. As the head of Team USA, he helped coach the team to a gold medal at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe International Basketball Tournament in 2017. In May, Little was inducted into the Military Basketball Hall of Fame for his service to his country and the sport he loves.

A former collegiate talent at Virginia State, Little played professionally in Italy and Japan. He holds a bachelor's degree from Liberty University and a master's from the University of Louisville. Outside of his basketball experience, Little has spent over two decades in the US Air Force and the US Army, retiring in 2020 after deployments to Kosovo, Turkey, Iraq, and Jordan.
