COLUMBUS – Columbus State University Women's Golfer
Sydney Himes has been named the Cougars' Athletics Athlete of the Week after a standout performance that showcased her steady leadership and consistent play.
A sophomore from Columbus, Georgia, Himes is a graduate of Northside High School and is currently majoring in biology at Columbus State. Her success in the classroom mirrors her composure on the course, where she continues to anchor a young and talented Lady Cougars lineup.
Beyond the fairways, Himes values the lessons her sport provides in everyday life. "The skills and lessons that I am able to use from my sport outside of regular life," Himes explained, "is the patience and respect that come with golf."
Himes turned in a Top-5 finish at the recent Full Moon BBQ Invitational, posting a 231 (+18) across three rounds with scores of 78 (+7), 77 (+6), and 76 (+5). This past week, Himes delivered clutch rounds that helped Columbus State secure a strong team finish, earning her recognition from coaches and teammates alike.
Her maturity and leadership continue to set the tone for the Lady Cougars as they push forward into the fall season.
