COLUMBUS — The Columbus State University Softball team dropped a 6-0 loss to Eckerd College on Friday morning at Cougar Field, opening play in the Cougar-Hurricane Classic hosted by Columbus State and Georgia Southwestern State University.
Ella Hopper and
Anna Waites accounted for the Cougars' only hits, with Hopper recording a double.
Mary-Catherine Sorrell drew the team's lone walk and added a stolen base
Khloe Shears (2-1) took the loss for the Cougars after working 6.1 innings. Shears allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
Hanna Deschambault closed out, surrendering one run on three hits while striking out two.
Records: Columbus State falls to 4-3 on the season.
Next Up: Columbus State returns to action on Saturday, February 14, continuing play in the Cougar-Hurricane Classic. The Cougars will face Eckerd at 1:30 p.m., Converse University at 2:00 p.m., and the University of Mount Olive at 4:00 p.m. as part of the weekend tournament slate.
