COLUMBUS – Columbus State men's basketball battled with Georgia College in the Lumpkin Center on Saturday afternoon, securing the 85-81 win in a pivotal Peach Belt Conference match up.
In a game with 11 lead changes and four ties, the Cougars came out on top to secure the season sweep of the Bobcats.
The win moved CSU to 18-7 overall and 12-5 in conference play. The Cougars have also now won four in a row.
Led by
Marlon Smith with 27 points, the senior's 23
rd game this season finishing in double figures.
Smith was joined in double figures by
Jordan Mitchell with 19 points,
Masiah Jones with 11 points and
Lee Langstaff II with 10 points. Jones also led the team in rebounds with nine.
The Bobcats led by one at the half, up 48-47, but the Cougars held on and retook the lead in the second half, claiming the 85-81 home win.
As a team, the Cougars went 14-for-21 from deep, with Smith sinking six of the 14 threes for the team.
