COLUMBUS, GA. – The 10th-ranked Columbus State women's tennis team welcomed SCAD - Atlanta to the John W. Walden Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon, winning 7-0 in the program's home opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Doubles play began with the Lady Cougars taking two of three match ups for an early point. Freshman Claudia De Lucas teamed with senior Nikoline Gullacksen for a 6-2 win at No. 1, while the duo of redshirt-sophomore Sofia Lauretti and junior Maria Markosov won 7-5 in the third and final doubles pairing.
- Columbus State was dominant in singles play, winning all six contests in straight sets.
- De Lucas controlled her match 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4, while senior Laura Pesickova was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 5.
- In the No. 6 position, freshman Isabell Ek put together a 6-1, 6-1 win to help seal the shutout.
