COLUMBUS — Columbus State University baseball's Sawyer Wilson was named the Columbus State Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week presented by Chick-fil-A on Macon Road and Manchester Expressway after a dominant performance on the mound last weekend against Georgia College and State University.

Wilson, a sophomore right-hander, earned his fourth win of the season with a complete game three-hitter, allowing just one run with five strikeouts.

On the season, the Cartersville, Ga. native is 4-1 overall with a 2.51 ERA and 22 strikeouts across 32.1 innings pitched. Wilson has held opponents to a .196 batting average against, a mark that ranks third among all qualified Peach Belt Conference pitchers, while his ERA is the second lowest in the League.

Wilson is a graduate of Cartersville High School and is majoring in Business. When asked, "What is one thing sports have taught you about life?" Wilson responded, "Nothing good will ever come easy."
