HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Columbus State senior Cayden Evans and junior Cole Eison got the scoring started for the visitors in the third inning of play as they each recorded an RBI in the inning to give CSU a 2-0 lead.
  • Georgia College answered with a run of its own in the third to cut the deficit in half before using a three-run fifth inning to take a 4-2 lead.
  • Junior Corey Berry used a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to bring a run home, but the Bobcats added two insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh to build a three-run advantage.
  • The Cougars loaded the bases with one out in the eighth and put two runners on with two out in the ninth, but were shut down at the plate to end both scoring opportunities.

  • Junior right-hander Danny Hershberger was near perfect in his two innings out of the bullpen, allowing just one base runner via walk, while senior Tucker Starling struck out three of the five batters he faced in 1.1 innings of work.
