COLUMBUS, GA. – The 19th-ranked Columbus State women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss at the hands of No. 2 University of West Florida on Sunday afternoon from the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
Columbus State is now 6-3 overall, while the Argos improve to 15-4 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- West Florida gained a 1-0 lead after the conclusion of doubles play, winning at Nos. 2 and 3 to earn the first point of the day.
- In singles play, senior Laura Pesickova won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, followed by a 1-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 4 from redshirt-sophomore Sofia Lauretti over (49) Guadalupe Martinez.
- (27) Nikoline Gullacksen battled through a tough 6-4, 6-7, 10-8 loss to (7) Carlota Verdu in a battle of Top 30 players in the top flight.
