COLUMBUS – The top-seeded Columbus State women's tennis team left no doubt in a 4-1 victory over 17th-ranked Flagler College in the 2026 Peach Belt Conference Championship finale on Sunday morning at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
The tournament title is Columbus State's fifth all-time and first since the 2022 season, as the Cougars are now 18-4 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Columbus State opened the morning with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles from the all-conference tandem of senior Laura Pesickova and freshman Isabell Ek, which is ranked 49th in the latest ITA Doubles Rankings.
- The No. 2 duo of senior Nikoline Gullacksen and junior Monika Temkova won 6-4 in their matchup to clinch the doubles point for CSU.
- Singles play began with a 6-0, 7-5 victory at No. 3 by freshman Claudia De Lucas, followed by a 6-4, 6-2 triumph on court five from Pesickova to put the Cougars ahead 3-0 in the match.
- Following a win at No. 6 from Flagler, redshirt-sophomore Sofia Lauretti came through in the clutch with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory on court four to secure the title for Columbus State.
- Pesickova and Ek were named the Doubles MVP after winning two matches in the tournament by a combined 12-2 score.
