COLUMBUS, GA. – The 18th-ranked Columbus State women's tennis team won its second straight match in shutout fashion with a 7-0 victory over Lincoln Memorial University on Friday afternoon at Walden Tennis Center.
Columbus State is now 8-4 overall, while the Railsplitters fall to 9-10 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Doubles play opened with a dominant 6-0 win at No. 2 by the tandem of senior Laura Pesickova and Isabell Ek, before senior Nikoline Gullacksen and junior Monika Temkova won 6-3 at No. 1 for a 1-0 match lead.
- In singles play, redshirt-sophomore Sofia Lauretti won her fifth straight match via a 6-1, 6-1 score at No. 4, while (27) Gullacksen was a 6-4, 6-1 winner on court one.
- Temkova secured the match win for Columbus State with a 6-3, 6-1 win in the No. 2 contest.
- Freshman Claudia De Lucas (6-1, 7-6), Ek (6-3, 7-6), and junior Maria Markosov (7-5, 6-1) each won in straight sets to complete the shutout.
