DADE CITY, Fla. | William Partner and Luke Friend each finished tied for eighth as the Columbus State University Men's Golf team tied for third at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Preview following three rounds at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club.
The Cougars finished the 54-hole tournament at 25-under par with a team score of 839, tying Lander for third place. Lincoln Memorial captured the team title at 51-under, while Palm Beach Atlantic finished second at 28-under.
Columbus State opened the tournament with its best round of the event, firing a 14-under 274 in the first round. The Cougars followed with a nine-under 279 in round two before closing the tournament with a two-under 286 on Tuesday.
Partner and Friend led the way for CSU, each finishing at seven-under par with three-round totals of 209.
Partner opened with a one-over 73 before delivering his best round of the tournament with a six-under 66 in round two. The sophomore closed with a two-under 70 to secure his tie for eighth.
Friend was five-under from the start after carding a 67 in the opening round. He followed with back-to-back one-under rounds of 71 to join Partner at seven-under for the tournament.
Frederick Chappell finished tied for 24th at three-under after posting three consecutive one-under rounds of 71.
Will Greene and Will Coffman each finished tied for 34th at one-under par. Greene carded rounds of 70, 71, and 74, while Coffman opened with a six-under 66 before rounds of 71 and 78.
Bryant Vail rounded out the Columbus State finishers, tying for 67th at 10-over par with rounds of 75, 76, and 75.
