Richard NavratilSAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla. - After a gloomy round of golf on Monday afternoon at the Marsh Creek Country Club in St. Augustine, Fla., the Columbus State University women's golf team sits in the 15
th place in the Flagler Fall Slam with a score of 36-over 324.
Florida Tech leads the field of 18 teams, carding one under par at 287. Peach Belt Conference foe Montevallo came close to the leader with three strokes above par. Barry University rounded out the very competitive, close top three scores with just two behind Montevallo at a total of 293.
Guro Ramjoer posted the lowest score on the day, putting up a solid four below part at 68. A single stroke behind her sits Saint Leo's Amanda Jakobsson. A three-way tie of Mae Cornforth (Florida Tech), Tilda Larsson (Barry) and Elaine Wood (Montevallo) wrapped up the top individual scores of the first round.
From the Lady Cougar stand point, the closest to the top came two freshmen. The first was
Jordan Booker, whose successful first round of six over par 78 put her in a three-way tie for the 43
rd place.
Close behind her with only one extra stroke, sharing the 46
th position with nine other golfers, was
Hannah Holland (79).
The next best Lady Cougar,
Shelby Banta, carded three more (82) than her teammate, putting her in the 67
th place alongside six others.
Sarah Grace Drop and Bailey Hockgertle tied each other at number 77 with thirteen over par to close out CSU's lineup.
Columbus State wraps up play tomorrow morning.
