Josh FullerALBANY, Ga. – The Columbus State University men's basketball team continued its great start to the season scoring 91 points en route to a 91-76 victory over Benedict College Saturday night. The game was a part of the Albany State Holiday Classic in Albany, Ga.

CSU (4-0) scored over 90 points for the fourth consecutive game to begin the season. Entering the week's play, the Cougars had the fourth-highest scoring average in the nation.

Cam Baker nearly missed out on a historic night falling just two rebounds and assists shy of a triple-double. The senior ended the night with a game-high 20 points with eight boards and eight assists.

Continuing to shoot the ball well,
Brent Jackson went 7-for-13 from the floor pouring in 18 points. Jackson, who scored at least 20 points in the previous three games, also had eight rebounds and four assists.

DeMarcus McVay was the only other Cougar to score over 10 points Saturday. McVay scored a season-high 13 points going 5-for-7 from the field.

Brentine Taylor grabbed seven boards and added eight points, while
Arben Camaj continued his great defensive work in the paint rejecting three shots.

As a team, Columbus State shot 53.8 percent (35-for-65) from the field while going 9-for-21 from three. From the line, the Cougars shot 66.7 percent (12-for-18).

Benedict (4-2) was led by Jordan Smith and Lafonzo Smith who scored 19 and 16 points, respectively. L. Smith chipped in seven rebounds and two blocks as well. Quiron Cooke had 11 points thanks to a 5-for-6 performance from the free throw line.

The Tigers shot just 39.4 percent (28-for-71) from the field while shooting a low 23.3 percent (7-for-30) from beyond the arc.

The Cougars won the rebounding margin 41-36.
