Stephen WilliamsBLUFFTON, S.C. – Holding steady over the final round of play, the Columbus State University women's golf team finished 10
th at the Lander Lady Bearcat Invitational on Sunday. The two-round event was played at the Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, S.C.
Columbus State posted a score of 325 in the second round to total 637 for the tournament.
Saint Leo bested the 14-team field comfortably with an overall score of 571. Florida Tech (587), UNC Pembroke (589), Montevallo (592) and Flagler (593) rounded out the rest of the top five.
Freshman
Sarah Grace Drop posted the low round of the day Sunday for the Lady Cougars, firing a five-over par 77. Her two-day total of 158 put her in a 46
th-place tie with fellow Lady Cougar freshman
Hannah Holland, who shot 83 in the second round.
Shelby Banta and
Jordan Booker shot rounds of 82 and 83 to complete the team score for CSU. Banta tied for 49
th overall with a 159 total, while Booker ended in 76
th place at 169.
Bailey Hochgertle finished in a tie for 68
th place after posting the Lady Cougars' drop score on Sunday. A round of 87 pushed her two-round score to 166 for the tournament.
Columbus State will now have a couple weeks off before competing October 19-20 at the LeeAnn Noble Memorial hosted by North Georgia.
