COLUMBUS – The Columbus State University women's volleyball team will dip back into Peach Belt Conference play this weekend hosting UNC Pembroke and Francis Marion inside the Lumpkin Center.

CSU will take on the Braves on Friday at 7 p.m. before hosting the Patriots on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Lady Cougars had one of the best rallies in program history coming back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Southern Wesleyan 3-2 (13-25, 10-25, 25-20, 25-20, 15-8) on the road. Senior
Megan Frame had a great night with 10 kills and nine blocks, the second most by a Lady Cougar in a single match. Frame also hit .500.
Zoemy Barreto Pereira had had a team high 11 kills.

Cornett on the Weekend

"It's great to get back on the court at home," said head coach
Casey Cornett. "We need to win these conference games this weekend to start building some more momentum for the stretch run."

With its win earlier this year against UNC Pembroke, Columbus State is now 5-2 all-time against the Braves. CSU is 2-1 against UNCP inside the Lumpkin Center. Francis Marion is 4-3 all-time against CSU.

UNC Pembroke has been busy playing four matches in five days this week after having matches postponed due to Hurricane Matthew. The Braves are currently struggling holding a 2-21 record and a 0-10 mark inside the conference.

Caroline Pridgen leads the team with 2.38 kills per set while hitting a team best .276. She also has 66 blocks, which are tied for the third most in the PBC.

Cayce Bell is inside the top-10 in the PBC in digs per set averaging 4.13 digs per stanza.

In the Lady Cougar 3-0 victory over the Braves earlier this year, Pridgen had nine kills and four blocks while Madelyn Ashwell had seven. Bell had 16 digs.

The Patriots will enter this weekend's play with an 11-7 record and a 5-4 mark inside the PBC. FMU notched a big win last weekend handing Armstrong State's its first loss in PBC play.

Caroline Boone is one of the best attackers in the league averaging 3.78 kills per set, the third best mark in the conference. Georgia Garrison also averages more than three kills a set with a 3.03 mark.

Carrie McGinnis is one of four players in the conference to average over 10 assists per set. The sophomore averages 10.81 assists per set.

Boone and Garrison each had 15 kills in FMU's 3-1 victory over CSU on September 23.

In Tuesday's win against Southern Wesleyan, the Lady Cougars had 12.5 blocks, their highest total of the year. It is also the second most blocks by a CSU team in a single match.

Frame has had double digit kills in two of the past three matches for CSU. The senior is hitting .295 this year, the seventh best percentage in the PBC.

Barreto Pereira had 11 kills versus SWU, her first double digit kill output since October 1.

Caytlin Merritt had four aces against Southern Wesleyan, the most of her career.
