COLUMBUS – Fighting for a spot in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, the Columbus State University women's volleyball team will travel to Augusta to face off against the Jaguars Wednesday night. The Peach Belt Conference match will take place inside Christenberry Fieldhouse at 7 p.m.

Columbus State is coming off a 3-1 loss to Lander Saturday.
Mary McCarty led all players with 20 kills and recorded a double-double with 18 digs.
Abby King had a double-double of her own with 37 assists and 15 digs.

Casey Cornett. "We only have two matches left and we need victories. I know the girls are ready for the challenge."

Columbus State holds a slight 4-3 advantage over Augusta in the young series history. The Lady Cougars are 2-1 all-time against the Jags on the road.

Augusta will enter the match with a 15-13 overall record and 6-8 inside the PBC. The Jags are currently seventh in the conference with four matches to play.

Four players average over two kills per set for Augusta with Savanna Gonzales leading the way at 2.81 kills per set. Jessica Hedrick is hitting .284 with nearly 300 kills.

Cat DeSilvester is one of the best defensive specialists in the league averaging 4.81 digs per set. The senior is second in the conference with 500 digs this season.Â

The Jags have to play four matches this week. After taking on CSU, Augusta travels to Lander (Friday), USC Aiken (Saturday) and Flagler (Sunday).

Columbus State is currently tied for the eighth and final spot in the PBC Tournament with Montevallo. Both teams are 5-11 with CSU holding the current tiebreaker. The two teams will end the season against each other on Friday.

With her 20-kill performance on Saturday, McCarty has now had three matches this season with 20 or more kills. The senior is eighth in kills per set in the PBC averaging 3.04. She had 21 kills in the first meeting with Augusta this season.

The Lady Cougars are 19th in the nation in team service aces. CSU has tallied 190 this season and need 37 more to set a new program record for aces in a season.

King now has 11 double-doubles this season, the most of any Lady Cougar.

Caytlin Merritt has 441 digs this season and needs just 17 to set a new program record for most digs in a season.
