Lady Cougars Open Up Spring Season

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The first of five tournaments in the spring season, the Columbus State University women's golf team kicked off play at the World Golf Invitational on Sunday. The tournament is being played at the Slammer and Squire Course in St. Augustine, Fla.
 
Columbus State posted a team score of 363 in Sunday's first round and is in 18th place overall.
 
Florida Tech holds a six-shot lead after 18 holes with a score of 301. Keiser University (307) is in second place, while Barry (308), SCAD-Savannah (311) and Nova Southeastern (312) round out the top five.
 
Bailey Hochgertle led the Lady Cougars out of the five spot on Sunday. The freshman carded an opening round of 87, one ahead of sophomore Shelby Banta's first round 88.
 
Sarah Grace Drop played in the top spot for CSU and posted a score of 91. Jordan Booker rounded out the team score with a 97. Hannah Holland fired the drop score on the day with a round of 98.
 
Columbus State will round out play with the second round on Monday. The first Lady Cougar will hit the course at 8:03 a.m.
