CARROLLTON, Ga. – Closing out the regular season, the Columbus State University women's golf team took sixth place at the University of West Georgia Invitational. The tournament was played at the Sunset Hills Country Club in Carrollton, Ga.
Columbus State posted a 335 score in the final round to wrap up the tournament with a team score of 1004.
West Alabama (895) held the lead the entire time and took home the team title. West Georgia (904) finished nine shots back well ahead of UNC Pembroke (925) in third place. Young Harris (937) and North Georgia (974) rounded out the top five in the eight-team field.
For the second straight round,
Sarah Grace Drop carded the low score of the round for the Lady Cougars. The freshman matched her second round score of nine-over par 81 to earn a 24
th-place finish.
Bailey Hochgertle closed with a round of 87 to finish in 28
th place, while
Shelby Banta shot 83 on Tuesday to end two spots behind her teammate in 30
th.
Freshman
Jordan Booker was one more spot back on the leaderboard in 31
st after a round of 91 over the final 18 holes.
Hannah Holland rounded out the Lady Cougar five with a round of 84 in 33
rd place.
Columbus State will now prepare for the Peach Belt Conference Championship to be held April 15-17 in Saint Augustine, Fla.
