COLUMBUS – After picking up its first conference win of the season, the Columbus State University volleyball team continues its three-match road swing with a trip to Montevallo on Tuesday. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. at TrustMark Arena.

The Lady Cougars earned their first Peach Belt Conference victory of 2016 with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-23) sweep at UNC Pembroke.
Zoemy Barreto Pereira led the offensive attack with 13 kills, while adding 13 digs.
Caytlin Merritt finished with 14 digs.

"It was great to get the victory on Saturday," head coach
Casey Cornett said. "We know we have to be at our best if we want to win on Tuesday.

"Montevallo always has a great environment and is a tough place to play. We have to be mentally strong throughout the match."

Series History

The Lady Cougars have played Montevallo more than any other team in the four years since the program restarted. CSU is 3-5 through the first eight meetings between the programs and just 1-3 at UM.

About Montevallo
Â
Montevallo is 8-5 on the season and has split its first four conference contests. The Falcons swept UNC Pembroke on Friday night before a reversal of fortunes saw them get swept at Francis Marion Saturday.

All-Southeast Region selection Kristy Bohan far and away leads the Falcons' offensive attack. The junior currently leads the conference with 212 kills, averaging 4.24 per set. Bohan also ranks second in the league with a .360 hitting percentage and leads with 1.10 blocks per set.

CSU Notes
Â
Columbus State earned its fifth sweep of the season on Saturday at UNC Pembroke. The five sweeps matches CSU's total from the last two seasons combined.

CSU's only two postseason matches came at Montevallo. The Lady Cougars and Falcons played in the PBC Tournament quarterfinals in both 2013 and 2014.

Barreto Pereira notched her fourth double-double of the season on Saturday, and it was her third in the last four matches.
