AIKEN, S.C. – The seventh-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team stayed perfect in Peach Belt Conference play taking down USC Aiken 7-2 Friday afternoon. The match took place at the USC Aiken Tennis Complex.
"This wasn't our greatest effort, but you will always take the win," said head coach
Evan Isaacs. "We need to keep improving each and every match to reach our goals."

The Lady Cougars (14-2, 9-0) swept doubles play to go up 3-0 early. Moving up to first doubles, 19
th-ranked
Camila Tobar and
Giorgia Vitale blanked their opponent 8-0 to get the first win of the day.
Beatriz Leon teamed up with
Olivera Tadijin at second doubles to grab an 8-4 win. To cap off the sweep,
Rachael Williams and
Kirsa Utech took down their opponents 8-5.
Columbus State took five of the six singles matches to easily go on for the victory. The Lady Cougars got two straight set victories with Tobar grabbing the first at third singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win. Leon took fifth singles 6-2, 6-1. The other two CSU wins came in three-set thrillers. At second singles, 29
th-ranked Utech needed an extra set for a 5-7, 6-4, 10-5 victory. Tadijin won fourth singles 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 to bounce back from a loss on Tuesday.
USC Aiken did get an upset victory at first singles as 21
st-ranked Vitale fell 7-5, 6-3. The other Pacer victory came at sixth singles in a default win.
Columbus State takes on another ranked foe on Saturday traveling to Florence, S.C. to match up with 37
th-ranked Francis Marion. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
