COLUMBUS — The No. 8-ranked Columbus State University Women's Tennis team will continue its postseason run later this week as the Lady Cougars prepare to compete in the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz.
Columbus State enters the national championship stage following another standout season under head coach
Evan Isaacs, who was named the 2026 Men's and Women's Southeast Region Coach of the Year. Isaacs guided both Columbus State tennis programs to Peach Belt Conference regular-season and tournament championships, with both teams earning the No. 2 overall seed in the NCAA Southeast Regional.
The Lady Cougars advanced through regional play to secure their spot in the NCAA Championships, continuing one of the most consistent stretches in program history. Columbus State reached the 20-win mark during the 2026 season and finished perfect in Peach Belt Conference play.
Isaacs, the winningest coach in Peach Belt Conference history, also earned his sixth PBC Women's Coach of the Year honor after leading Columbus State to a national ranking as high as No. 9 during the season. The Lady Cougars posted a 15-4 regular-season record and went 7-0 against conference opponents before capturing the PBC Tournament title.
Senior
Nikoline Gullacksen has helped lead the Lady Cougars throughout the season, earning Southeast Senior Player of the Year honors along with PBC Player of the Year recognition. The Helsingor, Denmark, native also earned First Team All-PBC honors in singles after going undefeated in conference play at No. 1 singles.
Gullacksen is currently 16-2 overall in singles play, including six wins over nationally ranked opponents while playing at the No. 1 position. She is ranked No. 12 in the latest ITA singles rankings and became the sixth Lady Cougar in program history to be named PBC Player of the Year.
In doubles play, Gullacksen has posted a 13-7 overall record while playing with
Annie Adams,
Monika Temkova, and
Claudia De Lucas. She also earned First Team All-PBC doubles honors alongside Temkova after the duo finished with a 3-1 Peach Belt record.
Temkova joined Gullacksen on the All-PBC Singles First Team after a strong season at the No. 2 position. She finished conference play with a 4-2 record and provided Columbus State with another reliable presence near the top of the lineup.
Freshman
Claudia De Lucas also earned All-PBC recognition, landing on the Singles Second Team after an impressive first season with the Lady Cougars. De Lucas finished 13-5 overall in singles play and went 5-1 in conference matches as Columbus State's primary No. 3 player.
Columbus State also received major production in doubles from senior
Laura Pesickova and freshman
Isabell Ek, who earned First Team All-PBC honors as a doubles team. The duo turned in a 16-3 overall record, including a perfect 6-0 mark in conference play, while splitting time between the No. 1 and No. 2 courts.
Columbus State will now turn its attention to the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championship, where the Lady Cougars will look to extend their postseason run on the national stage in Surprise, Ariz. Columbus State will face No. 17-ranked Washburn University at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, in the Round of 16.
