COLUMBUS – The 2018 season officially gets underway on Friday for the 12
th-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer team, as the Lady Cougars take on Embry-Riddle at 7 p.m. at the Walden Soccer Complex.

The match is part of the annual CSU Collegiate Invitational with two matches preceding it on Friday. Montevallo and Florida Tech will play at 2 p.m. with West Florida and Carson-Newman scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Head coach
Jay Entlich kicks off his 15
th season at Columbus State with a team that was named the preseason favorite in the Peach Belt Conference on Tuesday. Entlich holds a 241-55-22 (.792) record in 14 seasons with the Lady Cougars.

Columbus State welcomes back 17 players from last year's team that finished 16-4-0 and led Division II in scoring at 4.05 goals per match. The Lady Cougars return more than 85 percent (69 of 81) of its goals from last season, including 12 of 13 goal scorers.

Two-time All-American
Olivia Jarrell leads the returning squad after setting the CSU single-season record with 46 points in 2017. Jarrell enters 2018 needing just one goal and four points to match the Columbus State all-time records.

Riley Clark paired together with Jarrell to form one of the top scoring tandems in the country in 2017. Clark scored 16 goals in just 16 matches, including a hat trick and four other matches with multiple tallies.

Three-year starter
Brooke Nail heads up an experienced defense for the Lady Cougars. Nail was an All-Conference selection in 2017 along with defenders
Tehgan Anguilm and
Madeline Goodfellow. Anguilm was tied for the PBC lead in assists last year, while Goodfellow led the Lady Cougars in minutes played.

Flo Spano is the final returning All-Conference honoree from last season. Despite starting just three matches, Spano tallied five goals and nine assists out of the CSU midfield.

Kimmy May,
Annie Mayo and
Maddy Peterson are each set to begin their second seasons with the Lady Cougars after earning starting spots as freshmen.

In goal,
Bria Riancho is back after 19 starts in her first collegiate season. The keeper was part of eight shutouts last year with a 0.99 goals-against average and .750 save percentage.

The Lady Cougars have also added 12 newcomers, nine freshmen and three transfers, to the roster for 2018.
