COLUMBUS - With its strong play to begin the spring season, the Columbus State University men's golf team jumped to sixth in the latest NCAA Division II Golfstat rankings.
The Cougars participated in two tournaments in February, finishing inside the top-three in both, including capturing the Matlock Collegiate Classic with a three-round score of 6-under 858. Overall this season, CSU has five top-five team finishes in six events.
Jordan Doull and
Ronan Kleu are pacing the Cougars in the lineup with both golfers ranking inside the top-seven in the Peach Belt Conference in stroke average. Doull is fourth with a 71.1 average with three top-five finishes while Kleu is right behind him with a 72.0 mark. Both golfers have played in 16 rounds. Senior
Cole Cruickshank (73.88 average) has also played in all six events for the Cougars.
Georgia Southwestern is the top-ranked team in the Golfstat rankings with Barry, Lynn, USC Aiken, and Lincoln Memorial all in the top-five.
In the latest Golf Coaches Association of America poll, the Cougars are 13
th.
