FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – The Columbus State University men's golf team turned in a strong showing this week, finishing fourth overall at the Fripp Island to Bermuda Invite hosted at Fripp Island Resort in South Carolina.
Columbus State came out sharp in the opening round, firing a 2-under 286, and backed it up with a 1-under 287 on day two to keep themselves firmly inside the top four. A final-round 291 (+3) closed the event, giving the Cougars an overall team score of 864 (E) for the tournament.
Bernard Meyer led the way for the Cougars, finishing fourth overall at 4-under after back-to-back rounds of 70 (–2) before closing with an even-par 72.
Ian Pienaar joined him inside the top 10, tying for 10th at 1-under thanks in large part to a strong second-round 69 (–3).
William Greene rallied on the final day, firing a 2-under 70 to climb into a tie for 19th at +1, while
Russell Makepeace contributed steady rounds to finish tied for 32nd at +4. Rounding out the lineup,
Will Coffman tied for 62nd at +14, gaining valuable experience against a deep field.
The Cougars' consistency across the lineup was the key, with four golfers finishing inside the top 35. The result continues a steady fall campaign for Columbus State, keeping the Cougars in contention and providing momentum heading into the spring season.

The Cougars will now turn their attention to the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate, beginning Monday, February 9, in St. Augustine, Fla., at St. Johns Golf and Country Club.
