COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University women's tennis team will finally play its first home match of the year on Friday when Georgia Southwestern University arrives at the John Walden Tennis Complex. The Peach Belt Conference contest begins at 2 p.m.
The Lady Cougars enter Friday with a 3-3 overall record and already have one conference win to its tally. CSU defeated Augusta University 6-1 last week to begin its conference slate.
Columbus State remains inside the top-15 in the latest Oracle ITA Division II National Poll, notwithstanding its .500 start to the season. The Lady Cougars are 14th in the newest rankings.
Amanda Citre has been a Lady Cougar to watch this spring as the Sweden native carries a 4-1 singles record. Luise Sachs, Citre's doubles partner, is right there with her partner holding a 4-2 singles mark. Sachs moved up to the number one position against the Jaguars to grab a straight-set victory. Citre and Sachs have been a powerful duo, going 5-1 over second and third doubles.
Valentina Abrile, Agostina Bigotti and Yelena Labat all picked up singles victories versus Augusta.
Georgia Southwestern is a perfect 3-0 and will be playing its first PBC match of the year on Friday. GSW hasn't been in action since March 3, a 6-1 victory over Albany State University.
Coraline Lamer, Bianca Leao and Sophia Winters are all 3-0 in singles for the Hurricanes. In doubles action, Andrea Bustamante and Hannah Hogg are 2-1, while the pair of Maya Boynton and Leao is undefeated with a 2-0 mark.
Columbus State has won 36 straight PBC matches.
