AUGUSTA, Ga. - Eleven Columbus State University women's soccer players were named to Peach Belt Conference Team of Academic Distinction, presented by Barnes & Noble College.
The team is a part of the PBC's larger initiative to celebrate the academic achievements of PBC student-athletes and is modeled on the CoSIDA Academic All-America program.
To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee the program.
Graduate student
Parker Morgan (4.00, Masters in Business Admin.) headlines the group with her fourth selection to the team after being named an All-Southeast Region player this season.
Seven players are making their second appearances on the team. They include;
Carley Canzoneri (Jr., 4.00 - Accounting),
Maddie DeFranco (Sr., 3.44 - Kinesiology),
Avery Hanson (Jr., 3.64 - Kinesiology),
Maria Kilset (Sr., 4.00 - General Business),
Michelle Lamorte (Sr., 3.62 - Psychology),
Maddy Peterson (Grad., 4.00 - Exercise Science) and
Rachael Sweigard (Sr., 3.61 - Biology).
Vanessa Aviles (So., 4.00 - Nursing),
Anna Grady (So., 3.97 - Biology) and
Lizzie Hedrick (Jr., 3.87, Mathematics) are all first-time honorees.
