One Week Away From Giving 2s Day

CSU Athletics' first annual Day of Giving is seven days away.

COLUMBUS - The Columbus State University Athletics Department's first annual "Giving 2's Day" is one week away. This day is a 24-hour gift-giving initiative on February 22, 2022, to raise money for different aspects of Cougar Athletics.

The goal is simple; to raise money for each athletic program as well as the general scholarship fund and the athletic training department. "Giving 2's Day" will begin at noon on February 22 with CSU supporters able to donate up until noon on February 23.

"I ask all Cougar fans to join in our first-ever Giving 2's Day fundraising event," said Todd Reeser, Director of Athletics. "For 24 hours on 2/22/22, we will be raising money specifically for the needs of our athletic teams. Our teams are successful both academically and athletically, and your support is critical to helping us to continue to be highly competitive and nationally relevant."

Each athletic program (baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, cheerleading, men's & women's golf, softball, men's & women's tennis and men's & women's cross country and track and field) has a tailored goal to address unique needs that they hope to fulfill to succeed as a program. The funds raised are intended to build and maintain CSU championship-level programs and provide the best possible student-athlete experience.

Team Needs
Administration/
Sports Medicine

Goal: $8,000
Needs: A new ice machine is needed to keep our student-athletes ready for practice and competition. In addition, your support will directly support the athletics scholarship fund.

Baseball

Goal: $6,000
Needs: Rapsodo Pitching 2.0 and Hitting 2.0 (each $3,000). Baseball is looking to add something that would be a direct influence on their players and development. The analytic tool that they are looking to purchase is portable, can be used indoor and outdoor, and easy for players and coaches to use. Analytics does not take the place of hard work and repetition but used the right way can enhance the development of our players. Rapsodo uses camera and radar technology that measures and analyzes pitching and hitting data.

Cheer Goal: $8,500
Needs:
With some of our uniforms now nearly 20 years old, a new set is needed as we perform, represent, and showcase CSU at the annual PBC and National Cheerleading Championships. Thanks for your assistance!
Cross Country/Track & Field (M&W)

Goal: $6,000
Needs: As the largest team at Columbus State, your gift will help our student-athletes with critical team equipment, apparel, and shoes. In addition, funds will enhance the overall travel budget, allowing for additional meets and greater student-athlete participation.

Golf (M&W)

Goal: $8,000
Needs: The CSU golf program has had a storied history of success, and your gift will provide for important elements to brand and carry on the great tradition through golf bags, uniforms, rain gear. In addition, funds will support travel to golf tournaments that showcase our talented student-athletes.

Men's Basketball Goal: $10,000
Needs: New Nike home and away uniforms, 15 Wilson brand basketballs, and Nike travel suits for student-athletes to represent CSU and Columbus when they travel over the Southeast. Thank you in advance for your generous contributions.
Softball

Goal: $5,000
Needs:
The softball program needs to construct an attractive shed for the safe storage of field implements and sport equipment at Cougar Field.

Tennis (M/W)

Goal: $10,000
Needs: As a perennial national caliber program, the CSU Men's and Women's team would like to enhance their branding with new Nike uniforms and shoes.  In addition, purchasing string for tennis racquets is critical. Finally, with success at the national level, travel to ITA Indoor Championships (men's tennis won the ITA Indoor Championship in 2020 and 2021) has a sizable impact on the tennis budget.

Women's Basketball

Goal: $5,000
Needs: Bringing in great players is important to our success, and your gift will support recruiting and travel, team apparel, as well as the enhanced technology needs for the program.

Women's Soccer

Goal: $8,000
Needs: Over the past 18 years, the Cougar Women's soccer team has knocked a lot of goals in the back of the net at the Walden Soccer Complex.  These original goals are starting to show their age, and help us invest in our facility needs.
