Basketball travels to Georgia Southwestern to take on the Hurricanes

The women tip off at 5:30 p.m. and the men at 7:30 p.m. inside the Storm Dome.

AMERICUS, Ga. - The Columbus State University men's and women's basketball teams are set to travel to Americus, Ga. to take on Peach Belt Conference rival, the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern State University, in hostile territory on Wednesday, Jan. 25 inside the Storm Dome. The women will tip off at 5:30 p.m. and the men at 7:30 p.m.

For the women, CSU (10-6, 4-4 PBC) had a monumental win their last time out against the University of North Georgia at home on Jan. 21. With the victory, the Lady Cougars hold onto the fourth spot in the PBC standings and are hungry to knock off another top women's team in the conference. As for the Lady Hurricanes (15-2, 7-1 PBC), they hold the top spot in the PBC and are looking to add to their impressive resume. GSW suffered their first conference play loss on Jan. 21 against Lander their last time out. 

It's strength vs. strength as CSU scores the most points in the conference, meanwhile GSW allows the lowest points per game at 54.1. The Lady Cougars are led by Emilia Tenbrock who bumped her average points per game to 14.9 after scoring 17 points against North Georgia. She averages 5.9 boards per game and is also sixth in the conference with a shooting percentage of .402 percent. The Lady Hurricanes are led by four players averaging 10 or more points per game and have allowed less than 1,000 points total, the only team in the conference to do so.  

For the men, CSU (9-9, 2-6 PBC) is looking to snap a four game losing streak. The Cougars love road games as they have the second most wins on the road this year in the conference. As for the Hurricanes (9-8, 2-6 PBC), they won their last time out against Limestone on Jan. 22 after losing their last two PBC games against Augusta and Lander. GSW is 5-5 at home this year.

The Cougars are led by Nelson Haskin who is a force in the paint as he has the second most blocks in the PBC and is also averaging 11.1 points per game. GSW is led by sophomore, Jarrett Adderton, who is averaging 12.4 points per game. He also is third in the PBC with a free-throw percentage of .831.
