Montevallo, Ala. - The Columbus State University men's and women's track and field teams closed out day two of the Falcon Invite hosted by the University of Montevallo, with
Cyan Green and
Clareese Spahn each breaking program records.
Women:
Sophomore Green took first place in the women's shot put, setting a new CSU school record with a throw of 14.17m (46'06). The distance is also a provisional mark that qualifies her for the NCAA Division II National Championships.
On the final day of the heptathlon, Spahn finished in third with 3,612 points, breaking the program record formerly held by Ju'el Beasley.
In the women's 1500-meter race, Royal Delay placed third coming in at 5:11.13 and
Kaeleigh Brooks placed 11th with a time of 5:25.72.
In the 400 meters,
Alesia Johnson placed second, crossing the line at 1:00.32 and
Amber Elder followed, finishing in fourth at 1:02.42.
The 800m saw three Lady Cougars finish in the top 10. Delay finished third with a time of 2:25.03, De 'Aisha Stephens crossed the finish line in fifth place with a time of 2:29.59 and Brooks finished in 10th with a time of 2:42.21.
Senior
Ar'Rionne Hickson finished ninth in the shot put with a throw of 10.82 meters (35-06).
The Lady Cougars placed third in the 4x400 meter relay, anchored by Johnson, with a time of 4:19.94.
Men:
On the men's side,
Aidan Rush finished in seventh place in the 5k with a time of 15:40.91.
Sophomore
Blake Lewis finished the 1500 meters in sixth, with a time of 3:59.71. Lewis also placed third in the 800 meters with a time of 1:57.52, followed by teammates Mark Ravenscraft in seventh and
Owen Hartshorn in ninth.
The 110 hurdles saw
Gary Grimes edge out teammate
Kameron Collier as they crossed the line in fourth and fifth place.
Sophomore
Jailen Dalton placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 50.21 and he also placed sixth in the 200 meters, crossing the line behind teammate
Jackson Fulks who placed fifth.
Sophomore
Dante Walls hurdled his way to a fifth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles.
The 4x100 meter 'A' team took first place and the 'B' team finished in third. The 4x400 meter 'B' team closed out the meet with an eighth place finish.
In field events,
Tereil Mitchum finished seventh in the shot put and Kevin Wood took eighth in the triple jump.
Four Cougars finished in the top 10 in the men's pole vault; Alex Kendall placed third,
Donovan Stone was fifth,
Mason Thomas placed sixth and
Jack Decker ended his day in ninth place. Stone also finished eighth in the high jump with a personal best height of 1.80 meters (5'-10.75).
