Atlanta, Ga. -The Columbus State University track and field teams concluded day two of the 2023 Emory University Thrills in the Hills setting new personal best marks and winning four events. The men's team scored 80.5 points and finished the day in third place out of 27 teams. The Lady Cougars scored 32 points finishing in 11th place out of 24 teams.
Men:
- Junior Savian Taylor continued his domination of the 800 meters winning the event with a time of 1:54.15.
- With a time of 9:01.05 Sophomore Blake Lewis finished first in the 3000m run.
- In the 110-meter-high hurdles, Junior Gary Grimes leaned across the finish line with a time 15.40 seconds to take 5th.
- Jailen Dalton made it to the finals of the 100m, and placed 8th with a time of 11.14 seconds.
- In the Field events, Alexander Kendall pole vaulted his way to a 2nd place finish with a height of 4.30 meters (14'01.25), and teammate Donovan Stone placed 7th with a height of 3.85 meters (12'07.50).
- Justin Love placed 4th in the discus with a throw of 42.89 meters (140'08).
- Jackson Fulks hopped, skipped and jumped his way into 2nd place in the men's triple jump with a distance of 14.56m (47'09.25). Teammates Kevin Wood placed 5th with a distance of 13.77m (45'02.25), and Kameron Collier took 9th with a distance of 12.99m (42'07.50).
Women:
- Sophomore Tereil Mitchum threw 13.55m (44'05.50) to take 5th place, and freshman Brandon Akers took 10th with a throw of 13.17m (43'02.50).
- Cyan Green continued her winning ways in the field events by dominating the discus with a throw of 44.00m (144'04), In the shot-put Green continued her dominance by winning with a throw of 13.86m (45'05.75).
- Ar'Rionne Hickson placed 6th in the discus throw with a distance of 37.19m (122'00), and Hickson placed 11th in the shot put with a throw of 11.04 meters (36'02.75).
- In the women's pole vault, freshman Jenna Rolen cleared a height of 3.00m (9'10) to bring home 6th place. Sophomore Cai-Lin Davis came in 9th clearing a height of 2.70m (8-10.25).
- On the track, sophomore Alesia Johnson finished 8th in the 400m with a time of 1:00.48.
- The Lady Cougars 4x400 meter relay team (Amber Elder, Royal Delay, De'aisha Stephens, and Amber Johnson), took 4th in the final event of the day. The ladies crossed the line with a time of 4:07.85.
