Track & Field Sets Records at Victor Ice Breaker Dual

The CSU track and field program wrapped up the day at the Victor Ice Breaker Invite at Berry College Saturday with record-breaking performances by both the men's and women's teams.

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Columbus State University track and field program wrapped up the day at the Victor Ice Breaker Duals at Berry College on Saturday, March 4 with record-breaking performances by both the men's and women's teams. Both teams dominated in their Dual Meet against Auburn University Montgomery while breaking program records in the process.

The Lady Cougars set two new team records this weekend. Sophomore Cyan Green threw a program record of 45.29 (148' 07") in the discus. She bypassed the old record of 42.54 meters (139'07") previously set by Chatil Bradford on April 20, 2013. Cyan also holds the school record in the hammer throw, in which she took second place on Saturday with a throw of 41.11 meters (134' 10"). She also placed second in the shot put with a throw of 13.15 meters (43' 1.75").

Not to be outdone by the throwers, freshman Jenna Rolen competing in her first outdoor meet for CSU placed fourth in the pole vault with a vault of 3.05 meters (10ft), which broke the program record. The record didn't come easy as teammate Cai Lin Davis challenged her vault-for-vault. Davis ended the night in fifth place with a vault of 2.90m (9'6.25").

On the men's side, Justin Love placed fifth overall in the hammer throw with a throw of 44.12m (144'09"), destroying the previous school record of 39.40 (129'3") set by James Young on March 17, 2017. Justin Love also broke the program record for the discus with a throw of 43.19 meters (141'08"), which led him to a third-place finish Saturday.

To cap off the meet, the men's 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Jailen Dalton, Dante Walls, Gary Grimes, and Savian Tylor, placed first with a time of 3:24.40. The women's 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Amber Elder, Royal Delay, D. Stephens and Alesia Johnson, placed third.
