ROME, Ga. – Nikoline Gullacksen and
Mariana Ramirez took on the ITA Cup this weekend at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Ga., representing the Columbus State Women's Tennis program.
The duo competed in both doubles and singles action with Gullacksen advancing to the semifinals in the open singles division.
Opening on Thursday, Gullacksen took down Southern Arkansas' Amelie Gindl in the Round of 16 with scores of 6-3 and 6-2. For Ramirez, she fell 6-0 and 6-1 to Midwestern State's (Texas) Jessica Benzari.
On Friday, Gullacksen advanced to the east semifinals with a set one 7-6 (7-3) win and a set two win of 7-6 (7-3) over New Haven's (Conn.) Risako Umenkuni. Unfortunately, Gullacksen slipped in Saturday's semis to North Georgia's Angelina Linnikova 6-4 in both sets.
