COLUMBUS – Postseason accolades continue to roll in for Columbus State women's soccer as the United Soccer Coaches have announced the 2024 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer All-Region Teams on Tuesday.
A total of five Lady Cougars earned First-Team All-Southeast Region nods from the national coaches association. Columbus State was represented by
Emma Beddow,
Sarah Hungerford,
Vanessa Aviles,
Avery Williams, and
Heidi Harris.
Beddow, Hungerford, and Aviles have accounted for a combined 82 points this season which includes 33 goals and 16 assists. Beddow and Hungerford lead the way with 28 points each while Aviles has gathered 26. Both Hungerford and Aviles lead as the top goal scorers on the squad with 12 goals each with Beddow leading with 10 assists.
In addition to the stellar offensive performances, the Lady Cougars were recognized for their efforts on the opposite end of the field with two defensive players earning All-Region honors. Williams was selected as a First-Team defender while Harris was the First-Team goalkeeper.
Williams and CSU's defense has allowed just 10 goals this season and allows an average of just 6.8 shots per contest. In addition, the Lady Cougars have produced 17 shutouts this season. In goal, Harris has tallied 42 saves and has notched a 0.32 goals against average with just seven goals against.
The Lady Cougars continue their NCAA Title race on Friday afternoon in Matthews, N.C. against Minnesota State-Mankato.
