COLUMBUS – Sixth-ranked Columbus State University women's soccer hosts Georgia College on Saturday afternoon for the first Peach Belt Conference matchup of the season.
The Lady Cougars (5-0-0) welcome the Bobcats (3-2-0) to the Walden Soccer Complex on Saturday for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff to begin PBC play.
Columbus State continues to roll this season, blasting past Tusculum (Tenn.) on Wednesday to remain unbeaten. As for Georgia College, they are visiting Columbus after slipping in a 1-0 defeat to Florida Southern.
CSU and GCSU have a history that dates to 2004 with the Lady Cougars holding a controlling 21-2-5 record over the Bobcats. Columbus State has gone unbeaten in the last nine meetings versus Georgia College. In the last meeting, CSU defeated the Bobcats 5-2 in the PBC Tournament Quarterfinals on Nov. 6, 2024.
The Bobcats hold a 3-2-0 record this season with wins over Chowan (N.C.), Middle Georgia, and Valdosta (Ga.). Morgan Amrozowicz and Ava Martin lead the offensive efforts with six points apiece, splitting with two goals and two assists each.
As a team, GCSU has totaled 10 goals and has allowed six. The Bobcats average 15 shots per contest while allowing their opponents to an average of 10.2 shots. Jack Marchant has been at the helm of the GCSU program since 2022 and has tallied a 16-18-5 record so far.
Columbus State is coming off a dominating performance earlier this week in the 11-1 win over Tusculum that saw nine different goal scorers and a massive 41-3 shot differential. The Cougars' attack has suffocated opposing defenses this season with a total of 28 goals, averaging 5.60 scores a game on 118 total shots. CSU averages 23.6 shots per contest with a 59.3% (70-of-118) shot on goal percentage.
The Lady Cougar offense is led by
Emma Beddow with two goals and five assists for nine total points. Both
Vanessa Aviles and
Sarah Hungerford follow with seven points apiece, scoring three goals and assisting one each.
The duo of
Abigail Akerson and
Ui Suzuki help lead the team in goals alongside Aviles and Hungerford, all of whom have three goals each. A total of 13 CSU student-athletes have found the back of the net this season.
Defensively, CSU has held strong by allowing just two goals and 38 shots for an average of just 7.8 attempts per contest. The CSU goalkeeping corps has tallied just eight saves this season with
Heidi Harris recording seven.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET on Saturday at the Walden Soccer Complex. The match will be streamed on the
