COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Columbus State University Women's Soccer team put on a commanding display Wednesday night, storming past the University of Montevallo 5–0 in a non-conference contest at Walden Soccer Complex. The win lifted the Cougars to (10-5-1) overall, while the Falcons dropped to (9-5-2).
Columbus State opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when
Kendal Coreil notched her first goal of the season, finishing off a well-worked play assisted by
Mia Robinson and
Michelle Medina. Robinson then doubled the margin in the 36th minute, striking for her sixth goal of the year with help from
Aubrey Patterson, sending the Cougars into the break with a 2–0 lead.
Robinson wasted little time after halftime, burying her second of the night less than four minutes into the period off a setup from
Sarah Hungerford.
Payton Conti followed with her fifth of the year in the 55th minute, and
Shania Wegesend capped the scoring in the 64th, again assisted by Hungerford, to seal the 5–0 result.
On the back end,
Heidi Harris turned away five shots in the second half to preserve her seventh shutout of the season. The Cougar backline limited Montevallo to just one first-half shot before holding strong against late pressure.
