COLUMBUS – The Columbus State University women's soccer team capped its Peach Belt Conference regular season in dominant fashion, rolling to a 6–0 shutout victory over Albany State University on Saturday evening at Walden Soccer Complex. With the win, the Lady Cougars improved to (11–5–1) overall and (8–2–0) in PBC play, while Albany State closed the season at (3–12–1) and (0–9–1) in the Peach Belt.
Senior
Michelle Medina continued her late-season surge, scoring twice and assisting on another goal to lead a balanced CSU offense that featured five different goal scorers and nine total assists.
Mia Robinson opened the scoring in the 17th minute, converting a feed from
Sarah Hungerford and
Payton Conti to give the Lady Cougars an early lead. Just before halftime,
Kaylee Castano doubled the advantage at 43:38 with her first goal of the season, finishing a setup from
Zallie Aristodemo to make it 2–0 at the break.
Columbus State exploded for four more goals in the second half. Conti tallied her sixth of the year in the 53rd minute off an assist from Medina, who then scored back-to-back goals at 53:38 and 61:07—both assisted by teammates
Kendal Coreil,
Avery Williams, and Hungerford. Aristodemo capped the scoring in the 84th minute, slotting home a feed from
Madelynn Neace and
Trinity Zeigler to seal the 6–0 win.
Goalkeepers
Heidi Harris and
Huda Sayedzada combined for the shutout, turning aside three total shots to preserve CSU's eighth clean sheet of the season and fourth in a row. The Lady Cougars outshot the Golden Rams 34–5 and held a 15–0 advantage in corner kicks, keeping constant pressure throughout the match.
