COLUMBUS – Columbus State University Men's Basketball player
Ahmed Soumahoro was named the Columbus State Athletics Athlete of the Week, presented by Chick-fil-A on Macon Road and Manchester Expressway, after delivering a pair of efficient and impactful performances in Peach Belt Conference action.
Soumahoro opened the week with a strong outing against the University of North Georgia, scoring 17 points in just 27 minutes while shooting an impressive 6-of-7 from the field. He also dished out four assists. He followed that performance with a 19-point effort against Clayton State University, going 7-of-11 from the floor and 5-of-7 at the free-throw line, while adding four assists and two steals in another well-rounded showing.
The junior from Lawrenceville, Ga., Soumahoro, is a graduate of Berkmar High School and is majoring in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. When asked what sports have taught him about life, Soumahoro said,
"To keep going through adversity."
