COLUMBUS – Columbus State University Men's Basketball player Ahmed Soumahoro was named the Columbus State Athletics Athlete of the Week, presented by Chick-fil-A on Macon Road and Manchester Expressway, after delivering a pair of efficient and impactful performances in Peach Belt Conference action.

Soumahoro opened the week with a strong outing against the University of North Georgia, scoring 17 points in just 27 minutes while shooting an impressive 6-of-7 from the field. He also dished out four assists. He followed that performance with a 19-point effort against Clayton State University, going 7-of-11 from the floor and 5-of-7 at the free-throw line, while adding four assists and two steals in another well-rounded showing.

The junior from Lawrenceville, Ga., Soumahoro, is a graduate of Berkmar High School and is majoring in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. When asked what sports have taught him about life, Soumahoro said, "To keep going through adversity."

The Columbus State Athletics Athlete of the Week award is presented each week by Chick-fil-A on Macon Road and Manchester Expressway, recognizing outstanding performances by Cougar student-athletes.
