PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – No. 13-ranked Columbus State University men's golf competed in round three action at the NCAA Division II National Championship on Wednesday at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Columbus State's tournament run ends three spots shy of the medal match play rounds, landing at 11th after posting a three-round total of 19-over with a six-over performance on Wednesday.
Pate Stansell led with a T-26th finish with a 54-hole score of two-over, carding a three-over 75 final round.
Bernard Meyer and
Martin Gruendemann both finished T-34th with a total score of three over. Meyer shot a two-over final round while Gruendemann carded an even-par 72, the low score of the final round for CSU.
Russell Makepeace finished with a T-67th finish after a one-over 71, totaling an 11-over three-round score. Makepeace highlighted his round with an eagle on the par-5 third hole. Rounding out the Cougars was
Will Coffman who subbed in for
Frederick Chappell. Coffman carded a six-over round to land at 113th in the individual standings.
Columbus State fell eight shots shy of the cut line as the top eight teams advance to medal match play which begins on Thursday.
