No. 9 Women’s Tennis Earns Three Seed in NCAA Southeast Regional

Columbus State will travel to Dahlonega, Ga. to take on sixth-seeded Lees-McRae

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – No. 9-ranked Columbus State women's tennis has been selected as the third-seeded team in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional as announced by the national office.

The Lady Cougars (15-6) will travel to Dahlonega, Ga. as one of four teams to compete at the Southeast Regional Site No. 2, hosted by North Georgia. CSU earns an at-large berth to the tournament for the third consecutive season.

CSU opens the regional on Monday, May 12 with a 3 p.m. ET bout against sixth-seeded Lees-McRae (N.C.). Monday's opposition appears in the tournament for the first time since 2002 as the Conference Carolinas tournament champs. The Bobcats are 18-5 on the season and went for a perfect 12-0 slate in conference play.

If the Lady Cougars advance, they will play at 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday against Monday's 11 a.m. ET match winner between second-seeded North Georgia and seventh-seeded Georgia College.

Individually, Nikoline Gullacksen and Mariana Ramirez leads the way in singles play. Gullacksen ranks 10th in singles according to the ITA while Ramirez is 28th in the singles rankings. The duo also combines as the fifth-ranked doubles pairing with a 14-4 record. Both Gullacksen and Ramirez are First-Team All-PBC selections in singles and doubles play.

Columbus State will make its fifth-consecutive and 28th overall NCAA Tournament Appearance. The Lady Cougars have made 14 appearances in the Round of 16, 10 Quarterfinal appearances, and three appearances in the NCAA Semifinals.
