COLUMBUS – The top-seeded Columbus State women's tennis team rolled to a 4-0 victory over eighth-seeded Georgia Southwestern on Friday morning in the Quarterfinal round of the 2026 Peach Belt Conference Championship at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars opened doubles play with back-to-back 6-0 wins at Nos. 3 and 1, respectively.
- Grad student Annie Adams and junior Maria Markosov won on court three before the all-conference duo of (49) senior Laura Pesickova and freshman Isabell Ek gave CSU a 1-0 lead with a victory on court one.
- In singles play, freshman Claudia De Lucas secured the team's second point after her opponent was forced to retire in the first set at No. 2, while fellow freshman Finley Jeffers collected a 6-0, 6-0 win in the sixth flight.
- Markosov clinched the match decision for Columbus State at No. 5 with her own 6-0, 6-0 shutout.
