Columbus State Men’s Basketball Rebuilds Roster with Talent and Depth in Latest Signing Class

The Cougars welcome 12 new faces to the program

COLUMBUS – Columbus State University men's basketball has announced its signing class, welcoming 12 new players who bring a blend of experience from various levels.

Head Coach Robert Moore and staff have assembled a diverse group of transfers and freshmen with backgrounds of playing high-level basketball to help replace and rebuild the losses from last season's historic season.

"We have a bunch of new guys that are very talented," Moore stated. "The biggest question mark will be can these guys develop chemistry and toughness quickly to compete in the Peach Belt Conference."

10 of the 12 members of the incoming class are transferring from other higher ed institutions while there are a pair of local Georgia products moving up from the high school ranks.

2025 Men's Basketball Signing Class

PJ Volz – 6'2 – Guard – Dominican University of California
  • Averaged 12.5 points and 3.6 rebounds in two seasons.
  • All-Region selection and Defensive Player of the Year in high school, helped lead his team to a regional title.
Lee Langstaff – 6'2 – Guard – Tallahassee State Community College
  • Averaged 10.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.
  • Product of Carolina Day School in North Carolina
Jaylen Harris – 6'3 – Guard – East Georgia State College
  • Averaged 14 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.
  • All-Region Honorable Mention as the leading scorer during the 2024-25 season.
Marlon Smith – 6'6 – Wing – Lee University
  • Averaged 11.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
  • Product of Miami Carol City in Florida.
Aaron Smith – 6'5 – Wing – Alabama A&M University
  • Played in all 32 games as a freshman.
  • Averaged 2.0 points and 2.0 rebounds per game.
Ahmed Soumahoro – 6'3 – Guard – Florida Southwestern State College
  • Averaged 9.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in his sophomore season.
  • Product of Berkmar High School in Georgia, averaged 17 points per game as a senior.
Promise Idiaru – 6'10 – Center – Colorado Christian University
  • Played in 28 games, averaging 6.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists, leading the team in blocks with 37.
  • The native of Speyer, Germany was named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week in 2025.
Tre Moore – 6'2 – Guard – Coastal Georgia College
  • Played three seasons for CCG and made 26 appearances.
  • Product of Northside High School in Columbus.
Davis Byrnes – 6'6 – Forward – Erskine College
  • Has totaled 21 appearances and five starts in two seasons.
  • Junior out of Tift County High School.
Antonio Scott – 6'2 – Guard – University of Northern Iowa
  • Two-sport athlete from Telfair County High School
Brandon Ashley – 6'1 – Guard – Southwest Macon High School
  • Averaged 14 points per game and made a state championship finals appearance.
Isaiah Camon – 6'2 – Guard – Lowndes County High School
  • Averaged nine points, two assists, and two steals.

"We're excited to bring this class in and begin the development within our program," Moore added. "Our standard and overall goals remain the same with the ultimate goal to win a Division II National Championship."
