COLUMBUS, GA. – The 11th-ranked Columbus State men's tennis team welcomed SCAD - Atlanta to the John W. Walden Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon, winning 6-1 in the program's home opener.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Doubles play began with Columbus State taking two of three match ups for an early point. Seniors Elias Peter and Andrea Sandrone teamed together for a 6-3 victory at No. 1, followed by a decisive 6-2 win at No. 2 from the duo of junior Samer Al Tori and senior Thomas Cardona.
- In singles play, the Cougars won five of the six duals to seal their second win of the season.
- Sophomore Hugo Didier went the distance in the No. 1 position, winning 4-6, 6-2, 10-4.
- Cardona (6-4, 6-3), Sandrone (6-2, 6-3), and seniors Benedek Szombathelyi (7-6, 6-4), Yike Liu (7-5, 6-2) each won their respective matches in straight sets.
