COLUMBUS, GA. – The 20th-ranked Columbus State University women's tennis team won its second straight match with a 5-2 triumph over No. 15 the University of Nebraska at Kearney on Friday afternoon at the John W. Walden Tennis Center
With the win, Columbus State improves to 5-2 overall to start the season, while the Lopers fall to 6-4 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Columbus State was in control early, winning all three doubles contests for a 1-0 match lead.
- Senior Laura Pesickova and freshman Isabell Ek won 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, and grad student Annie Adams teamed with junior Maria Markosov for a 6-2 win at No. 3.
- In the No. 2 doubles contest, senior Nikoline Gullacksen and freshman Claudia De Lucas won 7-6 for the Cougars.
- Singles play saw (28) Gullacksen tally a 6-3, 6-0 win over (66) Patricija Cechanaviciute, while De Lucas was a 6-1, 6-3 winner in the No. 3 singles contest.
- Pesickova (4-6, 6-4, 7-5) and Ek (6-7, 7-6, 6-2) each went the distance to win their matches at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively.
