COLUMBUS, GA. – The 14th-ranked Columbus State women's tennis team moved its win streak to seven straight matches with a 5-2 victory over No. 13 University of North Georgia on Tuesday from the John W. Walden Tennis Center in Peach Belt Conference action.
Columbus State is now 13-4 overall with a perfect 5-0 record in PBC play, while North Georgia falls to 13-6 on the year with a 3-2 conference mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Columbus State won two of three doubles matches for a 1-0 lead in the contest as senior Nikoline Gullacksen and junior Monika Temkova won 6-1 at No. 2 and grad student Annie Adams and junior Maria Markosov won 6-4 at No. 3.
- (17) Gullacksen won her sixth straight singles contest with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-3 triumph over the nation's 13th-ranked player, while redshirt-sophomore Sofia Lauretti won 6-4, 6-3 on court four.
- Reigning PBC Player of the Week Claudia De Lucas clinched the match for CSU with a 6-2, 7-6 victory at No. 3, and senior Laura Pesickova added the fifth and final point via a 6-2, 6-2 win in the fifth flight.
