MILLEDGEVILLE, GA. – The Columbus State women's tennis team, ranked No. 12 in the most recent ITA Poll, tallied a 7-0 road win over Georgia College on Friday afternoon to secure the 2026 Peach Belt Conference Regular Season Championship.
Columbus State is now 15-4 overall with a perfect 7-0 record in PBC play, while Georgia College falls to 10-10 on the year with a 2-4 conference mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Columbus State opened with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles by senior Laura Pesickova and freshman Isabell Ek, followed by a 6-3 win at No. 2 from the duo of senior Nikoline Gullacksen and junior Monika Temkova to earn the first point of the match.
- (14) Gullacksen was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at No. 1 singles, and Temkova won 6-2, 6-3 on court two.
- Freshman Claudia De Lucas was dominant in a 6-1, 6-0 win in the third flight, followed by another dominant win at No. 4 by redshirt-sophomore Sofia Lauretti by a 6-2, 6-0 score.
- Ek's 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 5 and junior Maria Markosov's 6-0, 6-2 victory on court six completed the shutout for the Cougars.
