COLUMBUS – The fifth-ranked Columbus State men's tennis team celebrated Senior Day in style with a 6-1 victory over No. 22 Lander University, claiming the outright 2026 Peach Belt Conference Regular Season Championship from the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
Columbus State is now 17-2 overall with a perfect 6-0 record in PBC play, while Lander falls to 11-5 on the year with a 3-3conference mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In doubles play, Columbus State captured identical 6-1 wins at Nos. 2 and 3 for the early 1-0 lead.
- In singles play, PBC Player of the Year front-runners (21) Thomas Cardona and (8) Harry Pugh squared off on court one, with Cardona rolling to a 7-5, 6-1 victory.
- (30) Hugo Didier won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2, junior Samer Al Tori collected a 6-2, 6-0 win in the sixth flight.
- Seniors Yike Liu (6-1, 6-7, 11-9) and Andrea Sandrone (6-4, 5-7, 10-5) went the distance for wins in their respective matches at No. 3 and 4 for the Cougars.
