YOUNG HARRIS, GA. – The No. 18 Columbus State women's tennis team collected a 4-0 shutout of 43rd-ranked Young Harris College on Thursday afternoon at the Bob & Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex.
Columbus State is now 7-4 overall, while the Mountain Lions fall to 11-5 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars and Mountain Lions split two doubles matches with YHC winning at No. 1, while CSU earned a 6-2 victory at No. 3 from the team of grad student Annie Adams and junior Maria Markosov.
- The duo of senior Laura Pesickova and freshman Isabell Ek won 6-3 on court two to give Columbus State an early 1-0 match lead. Ek and Pesickova have been dominant in 2025, putting together a 9-2 overall record and winning eight of their last 10 matches in doubles action.
- Singles play saw freshman Claudia De Lucas turn in a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3, and redshirt-sophomore Sofia Lauretti won by an identical 6-1, 6-1 score in the fourth flight.
- On court five, Ek finished off the day with a 6-4, 6-3 win to complete the shutout for Columbus State.
