COLUMBUS — Columbus State University Softball junior
Hanna Deschambault has been named the Columbus State Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Chick-fil-A on Macon Road and Manchester Expressway, following a strong week in the circle for the Cougars.
Deschambault delivered three effective appearances, playing a key role in Columbus State's success with two wins while consistently limiting opposing offenses. Across 8.0 innings of work, she allowed just five hits and one unearned run, showcasing her command and poise in high-leverage situations.
She opened the week with a solid outing, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out one. Deschambault followed with a dominant performance in a 7-4 victory, throwing 3.0 shutout innings with only one hit allowed and three strikeouts. She closed out the week by earning another win in an 8-4 decision, surrendering just one run (unearned) on two hits while striking out three over 3.0 innings.
Throughout the week, the Barrie, Ontario, Canada native demonstrated efficiency in the circle, working ahead in counts and generating key outs. She limited opponents to minimal scoring opportunities while recording seven strikeouts and allowing just one earned run across her appearances.
Off the field, Deschambault is a psychology major at Columbus State and a graduate of Innisdale Secondary School. When asked what sports have taught her about life, she shared, "There's always someone working harder than you."
