COCHRAN, GA. – Senior right-hander
Connor Folds turned in his fifth quality start of the season for Columbus State in a 2-1 victory over Middle Georgia State University from Stuckey Field.
Columbus State is now 22-11 overall with a 14-6 PBC record, while Middle Georgia falls to 13-24 on the year and 6-14 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Columbus State got the scoring started early with a run in the first inning as senior Bryce Knox reached on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded to drive a runner home for a 1-0 lead.
- Folds kept the Knights' offense at bay until the fifth inning when Middle Georgia broke through for a run to even the score at 1-all.
- In the sixth inning, Knox put the Cougars back in front, 2-1, with a two-out RBI double to left center, scoring fellow senior Cayden Evans.
- Senior right-hander Christian Harmon entered the game to start the eighth inning and shut the door, facing the minimum number of batters across two innings of relief for his second save of the season.
NOTES
- Folds (5-3) picked up the win after going seven innings and allowing just one run on five hits with seven strikeouts.
- Harmon gave up just one hit and struck out three batters out of the bullpen.
- Knox finished 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBI, while Evans was also 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
