COCHRAN, GA. – The 18th-ranked Columbus State women's tennis team battled to a 4-3 win over No. 29 Middle Georgia State University on Saturday afternoon at the MGA Tennis Courts.
Columbus State is now 9-4 overall with a perfect 2-0 record in conference play, while the Knights fall to 8-5 with a 2-1 Peach Belt mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars went ahead 1-0 in the match with dominant wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
- Senior Laura Pesickova and freshman Isabell Ek collected a 6-0 win at No. 2, while senior Nikoline Gullacksen and junior Monika Temkova finished off the No. 1 doubles match with a 6-2 decision.
- Columbus State and Middle Georgia traded points in singles play as (27) Gullacksen was a 6-3, 6-0 winner on court one, and freshman Claudia De Lucas won 6-4, 6-4 in the third flight.
- The Knights won at Nos. 2, 4, and 6 to even the match at three points apiece.
- Pesickova came through in the clutch once again, clinching the match victory for CSU with a 7-5, 6-4 triumph on court five.
